Cherkoh
Emmanuel Martey Cherkoh was born in Accra. His family comes from Kodiaba, a farming community in the traditional Shai Osudoku area of Eastern Ghana. His talent in drawing and painting came naturally. <br><br>
"I studied art at college to develop my skills," he says. "After graduation, I had the opportunity to learn more from two experienced artists - Enoch Yaw Mensah of Freehand Studios and Charles Agbeko of the University of Ghana. <br><br>
"My passion is inspired by nature and my work portrays celebrities as well as cultural, moral, social and environmental aspects and views of my motherland, Ghana. I also like to incorporate our traditional adinkra symbols into my artwork. <br><br>
"I enjoy working with a number of media, including oils, acrylic, watercolor, graphite and charcoal. In the same way, I find expression through a variety of styles, such as abstract, realism, expressionism and others. <br><br>
"I am a football fan and currently play on the junior team of Accra Hearts of Oak, one of the leading local teams in Ghana. <br><br>
"I am the only boy of three siblings."
