"I began to paint in 1972, under the guidance of Catarina Baratelli, identified with Picaso's comment, 'Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.' I used oil on canvas as my painting technique, choosing the figurative as my theme.

"As a professional in the area of human sciences and a Master of Systems of Communication, I dedicated several years to the academic life. In this activity, words were the privileged form of expression. My professional commitments since then would limit my development in painting, but not my great interest in the arts. By visiting museums and exhibitions in Brazil and abroad I was able to satisfy - to a certain extent - my thirst for observation and execution of different pictorial forms of expression.

"Finally, in 1998, I was able to find an outlet for my desires determined by painting. I studied theory of color, composition, and design in the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts, where I am currently also dedicated to the workshop of visual matrix.

"My current themes revolve around aspects of nature that sometimes lose their contours, allowing the emergence of abstractions. I work with vibrant colors, although I also allow myself to get wrapped up in the attraction of monochromatic nuances. Beyond words, gestures, colors and forms surge as a challenge in search of the means of expression of my subjectivity.

"Recently I felt need to explore tridimensionality, a new and pleasing universe.

"To mold the clay is to experience its soft resistance until, finally, it is subdued to become a new creation. I can have a pre-conceived project, but it is in the adventure of the creative process that my sculptures come to life."
