Mawuli Quartey
"I was born on December 23 to Vincentia Aku Dunyo and Samuel H. V. Quartey in the Volta region of Ghana. My father is a renowned art critic - he always kept a watchful eye over me so it's no small wonder I developed a flair for painting. Every day, after school, I would run to my father's studio to sketch and paint. The saying 'catch them while young' certainly applies to me! My father's guidance and encouragement helped me define my love and interest for the arts.

<br><br>"I work alongside my cousin Benjamin Agbenyega, a renowned young artist who has successfully mounted exhibitions in Europe, America and Ghana. I held my first individual exhibition in 2003, and I have also participated in a collective exhibition with Ben Agbe (Novica featured artist), Seth Clothey and Kofi Nduro. We are regarded as part of Ghana's new generation of talented artists."
