This extraordinary mask is inspired by the traditions of the Dzonu people of Ghana's Volta Region. Featuring a bird looking downward, it was usually gifted to brave warriors. Evelyn Kafui Ahianyo designs the mask, carved from local sese wood and adorned with colorful glass beads or dzonu, from which this tribe takes its name.
