A deep blue star appears in perfect symmetry to dominate a deep red universe. Woven by hand, it adorns a bold rug by Mario Ch√°vez. He adds blue borders that emulate ancient pyramids and the Sierra Madre mountains. Titled 'Estrella del Universo' in Spanish.
Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 1 inch (3 cm) (1.1 in).
In the Andes, the Land of the Four Corners, mountains are sacred. So is culture. The Nazca lines, the Wari glyphs, the Quipu knots and the complex multi-colored textiles of the Incas are all recorded and live on the work of contemporary Peruvian artisans.
