By Salihu Ibrahim, this African mask echoes the style of the distinctive and striking masks of Burkina Faso. Such masks are worn by male dancers during festivals and represent the sun. Two large eyes peer out from circles of shining rays, all carved from sese wood and painted in earthen tones. The sun's face is accented by raffia.
