Inspired by the Dan people of Liberia this African wood mask is used for protection and as a channel for communication with the spirit world. Eva Asantewa Amakye of Ghana, meticulously hand carves this mask from sese wood and completes it with a beard of jute. A scarification line splits the mask's forehead while triangles mark the high forehead.
