Nelson Hernandez and Wendhy Salones hand craft this beautiful cell phone bag using 100% cotton fabric woven on a backstrap loom. For these Mexican artisans, creating handicrafts using age-old weaving techniques handed down from Zapotec ancestors in Santo Tom√°s Jalieza in Oaxaca meant making the tough choice of giving up their professional careers. However, they are determined to pass on this rich legacy to their children; says Nelson, 'We dream of being able to contribute to the development of the community,...spending time teaching the backstrap loom weaving tradition, something which is being lost in many Santo Tom√°s Jalieza homes.' Dove grey, bubblegum pink, and snow white thread is used to create the body of the bag which features fretwork down its center. A grey shoulder strap completes the unlined bag, which closes with a zipper and is perfect for carrying keys and other small objects in addition to a cell phone.
