"I was born in 1953 in Rio de Janeiro, which really deserves the title of 'Marvellous City'. I remember well the first time I was captivated by a photograph. I took it during a school field trip to Rio de Janeiro's zoo with a borrowed 35mm Werramatic camera with a Zeiss lens. I was impressed with the clarity of colors in a photograph of some herons. That school field trip awoke my passion for photography. I became aware that there has always been within me a place for my passion for photography.

"I appreciate music, but I have never had a talent for singing or playing an instrument, thus I remain a mere fan. However, what really reach my senses are the details and the qualities of a visual image, as well as the instruments for precision and focus acuity in a photograph.

"Although I have always enjoyed taking photographs, I consider February of 2005 as the start of my professional career as a photographer. This is when I joined the Brazilian Association of Photographic Art with the intention of exhibiting my work at the monthly fair in the gardens of the Palacio de Catete, at the Republic Museum.

"I studied Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunications. I have also taken courses on Administration, Marketing and a post-graduate course in Systems Analysis. However, as a photographer, I am self-taught.

"The nuances of everyday life feed my passion for photography. I am passionate about images. I live, breathe and transpire photos, to the point that everyday I wake up to shoot photos between 5:00 and 7:00 in the morning, as I accompany the early sun. I bought my first digital camera in 2002, and I have followed this spectacular and natural performance ever since, because every day it reveals itself differently.

"Another of my favorite places is the border between the states of Rio de Janeiro (Quatis), Minas Gerais (Passa Vinte) and Sao Paulo (Bananal). I take walks around this area surrounded by an amazing array of flora and fauna. They inspire me in another area of specialization to photograph, as I focus on the subtleties of the region.

"I have about 40 000 selected photographs. I spend a lot of time editing, organizing and enjoying the images I produce. I always use quality materials that satisfy a certain quality pattern.

"Today I join Novica's team with only a year's experience as a professional photographer. I want to continue on this path and through Novica I'll be able to present my photographs to the world. I am certain that in turn will bring me the opportunity to keep on taking photographs, which is what I love to do most."
