"I was born in Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro, and have painted since I was six. I was motivated by my neighbor who is a painter at the Escola Fluminense de Belas Artes, where I took my first art class at 15. Later I took courses at Parque Lage. When I first started to paint, I did academic paintings; later, I moved on to figures and today my paintings are primarily abstract. I also do sculptures in gypsum, clay, wood and glass, all of which are influenced by architecture, my area of specialization in school.

"I paint with oil but prefer acrylics because they dry faster so I can see the results sooner. I like lots of color and light contrasts.

"In 2000, I showed my work in Lisbon, Portugal. Being with Novica means having the possibility to show my work to the world without cost to me and without waiting for international shows. I want to have an international audience so that I can speak about Brazil and tell of my life experiences around the world.

"My family has motivated me a lot, as well as my neighbor who is now quite old and with whom I like to exchange ideas on art. In my leisure time, I paint and read about art and architecture. Describing myself in just a few words, I'd say that I'm inquisitive, a quality that has always helped me to pursue my goals."
