Disproportionately large, a mosquito alights on the tail of a lizard. Part of his 'Animalia Series,' this work comes from Beto Araluce. 'It deals with the relationship all of us have with everything,' he says. 'In Mexico, animal icons played an important role in our early civilizations. In this composition, you can see which is the weaker form that protects the stronger one, as the mosquito takes the Quixotic role of Sancho Panza, the squire.'

Araluce creates the pyro-engravings on pinewood and applies paint with a crackled finish.

Titled 'Lagarto y mosquito' in Spanish.
