Named Fang ngil, meaning 'Fang tribe gorilla' in Gabon, this exciting African mask is the original work of Salihu Ibrahim. He hand-carves the mask of sese wood, featuring an elongated shape in ivory with a bold engraving on the forehead. Masks like these were worn by members of the Gabon tribes when consulting the ancestors, but this is the artisan's own interpretation.
