The Baule peoples of Cote d'Ivoire, who are part of the Akan ethnic group, celebrate the harvest by wearing a moon-shaped mask with horns (called a Goli mask) during ceremonial dances. Salihu Ibrahim from Ghana creates a Goli-style mask of great beauty, carved by hand from sese wood and painted indigo blue. The geometric motifs and rectangular mouth are typical in this style of mask.
