This handsome mask depicts a person of power for horns are a traditional symbol of power in many West African tribes. 'Power is earned and not bought,' states Kwaku Ofosuhene Apenteng, referring to the tradition of selecting tribal chiefs according to family origin, not financial status. Apenteng carves the mask by hand from sese wood. He adorns the face with ornately embossed aluminum plates and finishes the mask with hand-painted details.
